Julie Mersine Fashion Design

the designer

Julie Mersine Romeli received her Fashion Design training at the School
of the Art Institute of Chicago. While a student, she worked as a stylist for
Neiman Marcus, outfitting models for the North American Auto Show,
in addition to taking an internship with Catherine Malandrino, developing
the Fall Winter 2007 and Spring Summer 2008 collections. Her work
ethic, attention to detail, and innovative designs throughout the SAIC
program did not go unnoticed. Her senior collection was hand picked
to be showcased in the Driehaus Awards for Fashion Excellence Show
in Spring 2008.
After graduation, she immersed herself in the bridal industry. Working as a sales
consultant and an assistant buyer, she learned all aspects of the business
firsthand. Simultaneously, she started building the foundation for her own business,
custom designing and producing bridal gowns, formalwear, and specialty garments.

In 2011, she moved back to Chicago with the intention of expanding her own label.
She discovered Mira Couture, a women's fashion design atelier and bridal boutique.
Julie had an instant connection with the owner, Mira Horoszowski and fell in love
with the store. In September 2014, Julie became the new owner of Mira Couture.
She now continues to do in house design, as well a produce a Julie Mersine
collection exclusively for Mira Couture.
